A serious question: Why does nobody depicting railways in Britain ever (I've never seen it) show puddles down the side or roads or on roads/tracks by the side of lines as if it has been raining? Unless it is the height of summer there's usually somewhere that still has a puddle!

It's the one thing that would improve your layout, excellent though it is!

Thanks for prompting me. :)

It has crossed my mind, plus rain. Clarence Dock is the candidate.

I had a bit on my old layout where the water tower had leaked. Two bloked in wellies trying to clear it.

Funny you should mention puddles. Have just built baseboards for a small shunting layout. I then put on my creative hat and painted/chalked a miserable grey November sky. The intention is to portray a run down engineering works/wagon repair shop and the air of dereliction will hopefully be helped along by the weather and the puddles! I too have never seen puddles portrayed - it’s often summer with summery weather to match.
