Points in a row.

#1

Post by The Sligo Rover »

Just starting to lay some track at long last and it looks like everything will fit as planned thank goodness.
However I am just a bit worried about part of my arrangement which has five points (Peco electrofrog) in a row.
Is this arrangement usually ok or should I look to try any change it although I am not sure how if I can even after all my planning, checking and measuring.
What do you experts think please?

I had four points in a row in the sidings. Worked fine.

It does not take me long to do five minutes work.

Are you asking from a running trains / prototypical or electrical wiring perspective?

I was just trying to establish if this was something I should avoid.

The 2nd diagram by RAF96 is the better one of the two IMO and if the real railways use that concept, why not use in the model form?

The major problems with the upper drawing that doesn't happen in the lower one.... Continual left and right hand curving is highly likely to lead to derailments. Plus of course it uses almost twice the space of the lower one and gives less storage siding length.
