Xuron V's Dremel.

Well, having at long last started a bit of track laying, I used my new Xuron to cut a couple of pieces of track.
After struggling to put the connectors (fish plates) on the cut ends and then examining the track it is just a bit distorted/crushed, enough to prevent sliding on the connectors even after a bit of clean up with a file.
I then remembered I had not used my Dremel since I got it the Christmas before last. A quick glance at the instructions, goggles on, straight through without any problem. A lovely clean cut that did not even need to be cleaned up with a file. Connectors fitted on no problem, track piece inserted, now moving on.
I know which method I will be using In future.
Has anybody else had a similar experience with a Xuron?

No. As long as you use them the right way round and cut top to bottom, unless they are the side to side version, the cut is perfect. The scrap side is of course a right mess. The very most I have ever had to do is give a quick "wipe" with a file.

I have recently been using them on O gauge track. Still no problem.

Same as WTD said above. Never had an issue with them except when I used them the wrong way round.

Perhaps it is me, I will give it another try.
Which is the right way around to use them? Maybe I used them the wrong way around.

The flat side is the neat cut. Try it on a piece of scrap track. There are only two ways to use them.

Same as WTD. However I used mine to cut a piece of already laid track. Therefore only used near the end of the cutters and not the middle section. B***ers snapped - so don’t do this!

It would appear that this was customer mis-operation, I was using Xuron the wrong way around. Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways.

You certainly won’t be the first person to do that.

And don't try cutting any point motor pins with them either. Been there done that - wrecked a pair - Doh!
