The class 40 has plenty of photos online but many are of locos in preservation and far too clean. Contemporary photos tend to be out of focus.
I print four or five examples to keep on the bench while I’m working.
The class 40 develops a characteristic ‘bow wave’ of grime between the doors and grey/black soot from the grills and fan - had to use a picture of a blue version to get that right.
