Not entirely unexpected. I would expect many more exhibitions to be 'postponed' (ie cancelled for this year).

A quick glance of this http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/events/exhibitions shows many, many are cancelled.

I don’t think there will be any until next spring. I don’t fancy being hit in the face with a virus encrusted rucksack. :D

Ha ha walkingthedog, I am glad I am not the only that has this problem. Always a big bloke with a big anorak and rucksack and who appears to be allergic to water.

A big bloke with a little anorak would look silly

What puzzles me abut the big bloke in a big anorak is that the big rucksack is full when he goes into the exhibition. Either he camped out overnight to be first in the queue, or he doesn't intend to buy anything. Which beggars the question, why bring the rucksack?
As to the smell, and lets be frank, many of them stink. Wearing a large anorak in the warm hall doesn't do them any favours.
There's another menace IMHO, and that's the electric wheelchair users who will, unless you're quick rap your shins or run over your foot. Before anyone leaps on me for lacking sympathy, my wife needs her wheelchair for all but a short walk, in the region of 10m. But using the chair as a means to barge into people is too much.

The misuse of electric buggies isn't confined to Warley, model railway (or other) exhibitions either.

Try visiting Benidorm! Despite rules that allow only the elderly and disabled to officially hire and drive them they're a menace at times. So much so that many hotels have banned them even in what was their parking places.

While on a birding holiday in Norfolk, we had a day in Great Yarmouth. We'd never seen so many people on electric scooters! Rather like in Whitby where it appears to be compulsory to walk around with a minimum of two dogs on over long leads, It appeared that GY required the use of an electric buggy.

Yep couldn’t agree more with regards to personal hygiene of some at shows. I’m afraid the hobby to many ‘outsiders’ still seems rather strange and it certainly isn’t helped by those who project I’m sorry to say a rather strange demeanour including an aversion to not just water but soap as well. There’s really no need for it these days. A little more consideration for social graces would not go amiss.

I will keep this year’s show in the diary and use it as my marker for preparing for 2021 by hiding the soap. :D
