Atlas 60 degree crossover.

Help again please. I have an Atlas 60 degree crossover with my Peco track. This crossover fits my track plan perfectly. I bought it because I could not find an equivalent Peco or Hornby crossover at the same angle.
Now that I have laid some track, rolling stock does not go over it very smoothly and I do not think it is going to be solution that I originally hoped for. I need to find another 60 degree crossover solution if at all possible. I need some inspiration and help from the experts on here please. A different angle crossover is not really the solution in this instance.

I’ve fitted a Shinohara code 100 double slip and they look good and do the job but no springs to keep them closed so beware what kind of motors you use.

OK, a couple of questions
1. is the rolling stock back to backs correct ?
2. is the clearances thru the flangways the same as thru turnouts ?
3. are the flanges bumping? you may need to deeper the flangeways or change wheels.

1/ I am using regular RTR rolling stock and have no problems elsewhere with any of it.
2/ I am using Peco code 100 track and electrofrog points.
3/ I think the problem is the flangeways are not deep enough on this Atlas Crossover + 0-4-0’s and my Schools Class are getting beached because of the size of the dead sections.

Could I deepen the flangeways with a Dremmel and a disk? This may only partly sort out my problem.

Could I/should I get somebody like Marcway to make a 60 degree crossing for me, has anybody any experience of them please?

I wonder why Peco & Hornby do not make a 60 degree diamond crossover?

I am a bit knackered at the moment as my whole project has ‘come off the rails’ until I find a solution.

I wouldn't use a dremel as that make take too much out but a hacksaw blade will do the trick.

60 & 90 degree crossings not used to my knowledge in the UK or Australia railways but a lot in USA so that is why Atlas make them & Peco does a 90degre in the Code 83 for the USA market

and of course the dead sections are too long for short wheel based locos like 0-4-0 - no problems in the USA with multi wheel pick up locos generally.

Lima used to do a diamond crossing which was at quite an angle. It will be in steel rail, but the good thing is that it is designed with deeper flanged wheels in mind.

What is a shame is that in the last year or two of Lima,they came out with a new rather wonderful nickel silver track range with very useful point and crossing angles were one could basically build unusual track formations due to their new design, but I do not think that the importer for Lima and only the importer had the sole rights to import Lima products. (Did any of the lovely nickel silver Lima track ever make it to the UK? I could not get my hands on any!)
I think I saw the new track range in the 1994 Lima catalogue and was immediately impressed.
