If and when you do decide to go, avoid Silverstone. Although the track is spectacular and often produces good racing, it’s awful for spectators.
It’s spread over such a large, flat area you con rarely see more than one corner at a time. I much prefer more compact layouts such as Brands Hatch, Barcelona and Jerez.
Actually, take Brands off that list as Druid’s Hill is too steep for my old knees.

Yes - 60th birthday present.
Every lap faster than the one before and fifth fastest lap of the day overall. Not bad for an old git in a single seater for the first time.
Incidentally, it’s a F4 of the same type that Billy Monger had his accident in - but he was going a lot faster!

I live just under 10 miles from Oulton Park and as a youngster in the late 1960s would occasionally cycle there with my dad and younger brother for events such as the Spring Cup, Gold Cup and the veteran / vintage meeting.
The Gold Cup in particular used to attract many of the F1 'greats' of the time and I recall seeing the likes of Jack Brabham, John Surtees, Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart race there.

Around that time we also went to the British Grand Prix with a workmate of my dad's, but I can't recall whether it was at Silverstone or Brands Hatch.

I took my son to Silverstone for 18 years on the trot. Saturday we would be in Copse Corner grandstand then Stowe B grandstand for race day. Great times but getting out of the circuit was always a nightmare. After the first few years we always stayed on for the after race concert.
