carbon brushes/springs

Hi all,

I have just started to service my Hornby-Dublo locos (1950/60's era) and I need some replacement carbon brushes and springs.

Where can I obtain these as the ones I can find on line don't look to be the correct size.

Thats interesting as I was of the opinion they only sold Hornby spares, not Hornby Dublo?

Hi, my dublo locos, have not had new brushes/ springs, in 25 years. They run happily on half inch long carbon, and you can cut the springs in half,and adjust tension, accordingly. If you really need new ones, look up Dublo man, on the net. He has them, but they will need fettling, eg, springs cut. Too much pressure on commutator, stops loco moving. It is surprising, how little carbon, you actually need.

I was going to say they are very similar to ordinary Hornby springs and brushes.. Mind you, it depends on the motor we are thinking of. But I did notice how similar the ones I looked at were.
As a child when I lost a brush I would use lead from a pencil and I made my own springs (Or used Mainline coupling springs).
My HST went for years like that before I found out that spares were available from places like Blackwells of Hawkwell and Kingcraft Models etc. (Remember them?)

MG , dont think they are the same, but no doubt somebody will know better. Need another dublo person.
