Re: Fly in the Sky
Thank you Gentlemen. This like the 250th video I've published so far, I enjoy doing them so much. From time to time
I get a "Cease and Desist" form memo from an agency that ferrets out and blocks the use of sound tracks on personal
published videos. Not often, and not this one. That is a shame because some of these tracks, many of these artists,
become entirely obscure and no one ever listens to or plays their brilliant music. One of my goals in doing these
videos is to resurrect or promote some of the truly gifted shining lights of music and singing. It is no different than
playing a good song with the car window down. I don't make a Ha'Penny on any of it, quite the reverse, I am hoping that
it might, and a good day, create a small resurgence in these beautiful lyrics, breath taking melodies and people might
actually buy them for the personal enjoyment.
My favorite so far has been the sound track of a 15th century Italian dance that I paired with one of the Henley videos.
It is 800 years old and is so obscure that only the most ardent musical historian would even know of it. I bumbled over it on youtube
quite by chance. It is a haunting, yet bold and vivacious melody that transports the audience back to a time forgotten,
when the pleasure of hearing music was an exceptional event in the year, or the life, of a hard worn peasant or footsore
merchant.
The Eye in the Sky lyrics, as I hear them, express a stalker's yearning to control every aspect of the object of his affection. Without saying it,
as such, the tragedy is crystalline in that it is universally impossible to complete oppress, compress, shape and mold the human
spirit in entirety. Though many notable countries have attempted to do precisely that, and it generally ends badly after a few generations.
The Moderators wisely discourage political discourse in the Forum, and at the expense of artistic license I respectfully submit to that caveat.
Did we not, the pages would be jammed with claims and counter claims of every stripe. So, suffice it say, if an entity were to inflate
a problem to surreal proportions (a cloned T Rex, A giant snake in the pool, a nuclear mutated armadillo on the rails), what might be
the effect upon the socio-political matrix in the general? I won't say another word on the matter.
