I am thinking of using latching relays to control DCC Concepts ground signals - so I can control each signal from the same momentary switches that activate my Peco point motors.
I have never used relays. What type should I be using and where does one buy them?
Latching Relays
Re: Latching Relays
Hi
You firstly need to obtain DUAL COIL latching relays I find 12 volt ones sold by for example Bitsbox Link to click 1 Item SW105 to be ideal. But just checking their web site it shows they have sold out currently!
Brimal has some at a little more in price item RL101 Lick to click 2
CPC Farnell, RS Components et all will also sell them but ensure they are twin coils ones.
BTW ready made units are sold by Gaugemaster under their part number GM500 (Often sold cheaper from other GM suppliers than GM themselves!)
Bimal sell one too item MR204.
My web site show both AC/DC from a passing contact lever or (On)-Off-(On) toggle switch etc and ideally via a CDU. Or from a DCC Accessory decoder using a latching relay... How to make them.... AC/DC Latching relay
Or DCC Accessory Decoder operated Latching relay Just scroll down a little to see the DCC version item.

Re: Latching Relays
I agree with Brian, those relays are excellent. The pins are 0.1" apart so can be mounted directly on to veroboard.
Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as an electrician
Re: Latching Relays
Thank you for that.
I see that Gaugemaster also have very useful wiring diagrams on their website. Exactly what I needed to understand!
