Twice I thought your caboose was going to crash only for the diamond crossing to re-rail it! If only it were possible in real life!

Actually, there was a training film made for WWII saboteurs, of the good guys, on how to and how not to derail Nazi trains. Footage
showed that removing, or blasting, a section of rail merely allowed the wagons to bounce over the empty spot and continue on as if nothing happened.
The film demonstrated how exactly to deform the rail to guide the bogie into the hinterlands.

Truth be told, I didn't even see the issue until well after publication!
