Hi MG, thanks for your kind comments. I'm also fond of pylons, both the real and model scenary types. They add height to a layout and contrast with the horizontality of the track and trains. Every summer my wife and I go to Poland and we visit her relations, including some who live near the River Vistula where there are two enormous pylons taking the cables over the river, which is very wide at that point. It's a magnificant sight, especially as the landscape is so flat there and the pylons are painted with high visability red and white stripes (also the Polish national colours). Of course, this year we missed all that.

And a little bit of pylon in every photo.

The (ready-made) building on the right of the second photo was sold as Tom Brown's school, but I wanted it as a vicarage to sit next to the church. Thinking about it, I decided that the vicar might take in a few boarders to generate a little extra income, so it's a vicarage and boarding school. At the moment the church has been shifted across the track, so the poor old vicar has to dodge trains between home and work. When I remove the football pitch, I'll put the church back to its original place.

Hi Chops, yes, it's busy. I dare say that in the heyday of rail, there were some incredibly busy stations and depots. Rail was the main form of transport for people and things during the 'coal and steel' phase of the industrial revolution much of which when Britain was the Workshop of the World.

I'm currently working on a model that fits that industrial revolution theme, so (in about a fortnight) watch this space...

I cleaned the track and had a little locomotive running session. It was marvelous as I had run out of IPA several weeks previously and they hadn't been running well, but having acquired some IPA they were running sweetly. I couldn't resist some photos - action photos, so if you don't like blurry, look away.

I'm still working on that industrial revolution model that I mentioned a fortnight ago, but I'm hoping to get it onto the layout tomorrow even though it won't be complete (it'll have a roof, which is a good start).
