I personally liked what you had done. Don't be disheartened - I recently spent 12 hours building a timber yard and even got as far as painting the roof when I decided it was too large/out of scale for the location and adjacent cottage so I started again, salvaging some parts to reduce in size. It was frustrating at first but now I've nearly finished I've realised that it was a good decision - and my second model was built quicker and a lot better.
It may be crazy, but I like it. I go for much more complex setups, the simplicity of your layout make me want to add a few sidings where you have your curves.... but then it wouldn’t be nice and simple!
First running session this morning. A big problem appeared: the length of the track between the points and the crossing is too short. My Hornby 0-4-0 can't take enough speed and stalls on the points and the crossing.
