5am : Down milk train comprising 3 tank wagons, an ex GWR Siphon and an ex LMS BG parcels van, hauled my Patriot Class 46148 The Manchester Regiment.





Other Class 7P locos available this service include 45536 Private W Wood VC, 45537 Private E Sykes VC (all Patriot Class) and 45736 Phoenix (Rebuilt Jubilee Class).
I inherited all these from my dad and all are from Bachmann, except for 45537 which is an old Hornby tender drive loco.
I can't really run passenger trains long enough to justify 7P haulage, so this milk train gives an excuse to give them an outing.

5-15am : Up parcels train hauled by Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0 number 43014 rounds the curve leading to Lostock Junction station.


Leaving her train in the Up platform, she collects another parcels van from the bay platform.


then shunts it on to the end of her train.


before running round


and backing onto her train


and getting the right of way to continue on her journey

Other locos commonly used on this working are BR Std Class 4 4-6-0 75035 and Gresley K3 2-6-0 61932.
Initially I intended it to be a Black 5 or BR Std class 5 working but, like most of the locos inherited from my dad, none of these have front couplings.

Lostock Junction exists in it's own time zone and clocks speed up and slow down depending on how long it takes me to complete a particular move.
Also, the sun always rises early and sets late, enabling photos to be taken of early morning and late evening workings.

We've just been moved up to Tier 4 (Stay at Home), so taking the opportunity to test my timetable.

Water tower outside Lostock Junction station.
It's basically a Hornby 'ready to plant' item, modified by overcladding with Metcalfe stone card and a tank cover made from coffee stirrers.

That looks really nice. I have one of these that I was going to discard as it is too 'plasticky', but I might reconsider now.

My one (post #9) is now redundant, no room on new layout. Fitted with interior lighting.
