Nice selection, Not happy with Hornby copying of the Hatton 4 and 6 wheel Coaches collection, There is a lot of other rolling stock not produced they could have made

Would like a HST Blue Pullman Set but not at those prices. Would of preferred a Railroad standard for the power cars and coaches

Only Loco I will save up for will be the Air Smoothed Merchant Navy General Steam Navigation would be better if it was in War time black or SR green Number 21C011.

I have seen a few minutes in so far. I was interested in their childrens range first. What was not mentioned or seen is an aspect which is most important for children. How easy is it for them to put the trains on the track? If they can be difficult, then may I suggest adding a railing ramp to use with the set and prehaps introducing a re-railing straight as part of the track which could double up as a level crossing for the children to use to help them put the trains on the track?

Then I came to the starter sets and good for the first two sets which are the traditional 0-4-0 DC sets. I actually like these though I do hope their starter DC controller has been made easier to use so it is not soo frustrating, and that the transformer has a better grommit around the wires which is the achillies heel of the basic DC controller as the wires then to break just near the stiff almost plasticky grommet part that holds the wire. But ok... These starter sets I love.
Then I came to the new set that can control up to two trains with their new controller which can be run from a tablet, but what he did not mention which I feel is a vital bit of information for this lovely set is "Is it DC or DCC?". This information makes a huge difference for those who are thinking of buying a set like this. He talked all about the set but did not give us a clue if it worked via DCC or DC. Maybe it is not compatible with either? Who knows...
Another question. He mentioned the 9F when 50 years ago they introduced the Ringfield motor mounted in the tender. He says they will be bringing out a brand new 9F, but what he has not said is if it will be locomotive or tender driven. Why I mention this is because if I was to want one, if it was tender drive I would not bother. I would rather loose some of the "Open" under the boiler look then have a tender drive.

The new Hornby Dublo products are exciting but will they be in 2 or 3 rail? They use the old blue 3 rail style boxes so I am guessing they will be 3 rail, but the ones they used on the track were 2 rail. So I assume they will be made for 3 rail and 2 rail use according to which one one orders?

So yes. I like there new range. As long as they can work hard to keep the prices more reasonable knowing that covid and the recession will have effected peoples incomes, I see no reason why they won't sell well.

I do think that they need to go out of their way during 2021 to ensure that simple every day things like track, railjoiners, trackpins and track cleaning rubbers are all kept in stock as they are something which has been in rather short supply during this current period, and if anything, I see this being more important then ensuring the locos and rolling stock levels are supplied, because many people during these lockdown periods are extending their layouts.

I love the maglight feature on the coaches! Nice touch. Careful not to spell it "Maglite" as they are a well known brand of bicycle lighting products.

They may have trimmed back the range now you have gone over to the dark side. The new items left me a little underwhelmed so, as yet, no pre-orders have been placed.
Having said that, the streamlined P2 caught my eye as a ‘probable’ purchase. The ‘Clan’ is a possible but as it may be a rehashed old model, I may wait for the reviews to be published.
A notable omission was the lack of new TTS decoders - the new A1 and P2 are already catered for but I thought they may have filled a few gaps for previous releases.

Must admit, that nothing much tempted me, but Hornby Dublo looks interesting.

One or two items caught my eye, but with many prices now north of £200 - I may have to think again. I think it will be fair to assume there will be no more rebuilt Merchant Navy Class, and although I do have two in original format, I don't think I will be adding to those. The four/six wheel coaches look nice and a set behind my Bachmann E4 would look nice (as a "special") - have to decide whether I want power from a battery or the track? I already have a magnet placed above the tunnel portal that exits the fiddle yard. The coach lighting kit could be used in other locations, and I suppose it would be easy to replace the LED strip with a longer one? I'll hold off ordering anything for the moment. BB

The only thing that got me (a little) excited were the 4/6 wheel coaches. I have some of the early Hornby ones but they are very plain. So after a long while on t'internet earlier I just pre ordered some Hatton Genesis ones - sorry Hornby

Passenger trains often were rarely uniform so a rake assembled from both Hattons & Hornby 4/6 wheelers would be perfectly reflective of what actually occurred (assuming same liveries are available).
