The two shades of green arrived from Howes Models today - ‘Darlington’ green it is.
The white lining is actually painted on - or more to the point, the primer coat was masked prior the the green being applied. A bit of an experiment really, but it seems to have worked.
Plus new handrails on the roof ready for a coat of black once the green has hardened enough to take masking tape.

Plain black done for the roof and corridor connections. I will need to touch in some edges as masking near the steps proved a bit tricky - as expected.

One problem that is a recurring problem with repaint app is that the paint tends to flatten out any rivet detail. On this one I ‘enhanced’ the rivets after priming with minute drops of Glue n Glaze applied with a pin

After a couple of days faffing about with my coal tower ladder I thought I’d Better get back to the tender project.
The paint and varnish are thoroughly dry so I started to work out the positioning of the lettering.
But, we’ve hit a snag.
I think there’s a problem with the transfers.
All the reference photos show the lettering as gold with red and black shading but, as can be seen from the photo, these have white bits showing. To me it looks like the registration of the ink wasn’t correct when they were manufactured.
Looking again at the sample pictures on their website, there does seem to be some variation between their examples so I have emailed them for their thoughts.

They do look a little "out" especially the 5's and 6's. Makes the character look badly formed to me. R-
Young at heart. Slightly older in other parts.

Looking at some pictures I reckon they are supposed to have the white. The other tender looks wrong.

Re: Painting and Weathering Service
I think it should match the other tender WTD. You don't need to re decal both tenders. If it is wrong blame Hornby It does't worry me.
I think the white looks awful.

Depends if the other tender is correct. Not sure if the loco is from the Railroad range but they tended to have less accurate markings. Not sure anybody needs blaming. My thoughts might not be correct but it nice to get things right.
The white is there on my picture from a 12 inch to the foot version.
