I’m sure it will look splendid.

Full marks for a quick response from Fox Transfers but minus points for getting my name wrong. I’m not entirely happy with this response to my challenge over quality either.
“Please rest assured Mr Mudford. The white highlights are correct and our transfers replicate the originals as closely as possible, no mistake.
Kind regards
Kevin Spurr”
I shall order a set from ModelMaster.
I think in time I will also get in touch with RailTec Transfers. As some will know, their range is primarily aimed at modern image but a few older liveries are available - unfortunately not for this project. They do undertake commissions but I also know they are swamped with work. But I plan to strike up a conversation with them - you never know what may come from it.

Re: Painting and Weathering Service
Hope you get it sorted Steve. I must say where you have enlarged the transfer to the same size as the real thing it isn’t a fair comparison. If you enlarged the real thing by 76 that would look very different as well.
I’m sure what ever you end up with will look great. Your talent will prevail.

You may be right Brian but the proportions of white on the transfer are not correct and overpower the overall effect. I have gone back to photos I took the last time I was at the NRM, and would you believe I didn’t take any of the bl##dy tenders!
Yes, I will get it ‘right’ or at least better than Fox’s.
I am far from impressed by their response - somewhat dismissive in my opinion.

Yes I agree. Obviously think they don’t make mistakes.

Slow progress on the tender due to a couple of factors. A Covid outbreak at work meant I had to put in a few extra shifts, my sciatica has kept me out of the shed and the replacement transfers from ModelMaster have yet to be despatched - currently quoting up to ten days for that.
However, I have applied the lining to the water tender and applied a guideline for the numbers when they turn up and of course worked out the correct spacing to match the coal tender.

Re: Painting and Weathering Service
The guideline is an excellent idea. I have just made a couple of wagons and the planking was a perfect guide for the transfers.

The Hornby printed lining on the coal tender was a bit thick so a quick coat of paint to cover them and the matching transfer lining applied for a matching pair.
As you can see, the lettering transfers have yet to be delivered - not even showing as ‘shipped’ on the supplier’s website.
