I'm in the process of converting my layout to DCC. I'm getting on well with programming and running my locos but I'm struggling with stationary decoders. I've fitted a pair of Gaugemaster DCC30 decoders and have Seep PM1 motors fitted to Peco Setrack points. The problem is that the motors work fine when fitted to the base board without the point in place, but once the track is down the motors either just buzz or only move the point one way. I've set the momentary value to 0.2 seconds. Will increasing this value help or is something else wrong?

The problem with Seep PMx range of solenoid motors is two fold. A) They are very power hungry and need a decent supply and ideally the help of a CDU. The DCC30 does not have a CDU
B) The Seep PMx motor must be fitted directly in line with the point above. Any slight misalignment will stop them working correctly.
Also the wring from all three decoder outputs to Seep pads A, B & C should be in 16/0.2mm wire minimum.
Ensuring all three above are correct and the Seep should move correctly

Thanks Brian, I didn't realise the DCC30 had a capacitor, but looking at I can see two small ones. Stand alone CDUs have a much beefier looking job, does this make a difference?

UPDATE.... I have done a bit of investigation and can now confirm the Gaugemaster DCC30 decoder does not have a CDU. Their DCC32 however does include a CDU.
The lack of a CDU, possible use of smaller than recommended wire sizes, plus the use of DCC power will all lead to poor Seep performance, as too will slightly out of alignment issues too.
I have amended my comments in my original reply re a CDU.
I have downloaded the instructions for the DCC30 to use as reference. I note that it can be powered from a 16volt AC power source. I would look to use such rather than the DCC, leaving the DCC to provide just the data for movements. Gaugemaster sell a 16v AC power supply item GMC-WM1 but there are others.
