At first I thought that what I was intending to build was just ridiculously small.
Now I've started, I am finding that I'm constantly having to think about how to do various aspects, work things out, make decisions, and I'm rather glad that I made that choice.
Your comments about "small is good" are helping me to believe it too!
Project 1
Re: Project 1
Can't believe that it's so long since I posted here.
I haven't lost interest and I have been working on things, but my attention has been thinly spread over several areas, including planning of my next project! I know, I know, I ought to finish Project 1 before even thinking about Project 2...
Anyway, I have Project 1 well under way, including wiring to the track and some lights. Have acquired some small building kits and will add wiring to light these too. Slow and methodical is my approach (or my excuse). But I know I need to get a lot completed before burying it under scenery.
This little project has been useful in learning and practising lots of things. Made a few mistakes but that was the whole point of Project 1, to learn ready for the main project to follow.
I'll try to get a picture on here soon.

Re: Project 1
Good to know that work is continuing however slowly. I’ve certainly moved away from my larger layout (nothing done for nearly 2 years amazingly) because I’ve found that for now, smaller layouts are more appealing - less cost, if things go wrong they are quicker to put right etc. Also, new ideas keep forming in my head so off I go in another direction. At present, micro layouts are my main interest, including box files which are a challenge on a whole new level! Keep the modelling faith and enjoy what you are doing - a great distraction in these rather strange times we are living through.

Re: Project 1
One thing I should mention is that small or micro layouts do not neccessarily mean they are quick projects. They can be but often one puts more into them then one would with a larger layout as one gets carried away, though the good thing with small is they are usually much easier to transport and find suitable spaces to fit them, so they do have a big advantage if one is considering moving house or does not know if one is staying put. They also have the advantage in being excellent to share the work with others as one just takes it with you, be it to a club or exhibition or just to show ones mates. Portability can offer up a whole new world!
