oo gauge points
oo gauge points
i have a couple of CO-CO diesels which require a minimum of 3rd radius track to operate correctly without derailing.i have standard points to my storage area and these locos dont like them and continually derail.the question is which are the correct / best points to use for these locos,Cheers

Re: oo gauge points
Large radius Peco maybe? How about SMP Scaleway points?
The only problem is they do take a bit of space. Is interesting.

Budget modelling in 0-16.5...
Re: oo gauge points
thanks for the info,i have tried larger peco points and problem remains but i think its got something to do with wheel back to back measurements.i have altered layout slightly so that loco enters the point from a straight piece ot track and it is working ok.thanks again and i will see how it goes for a while
Re: oo gauge points
I don't understand why your locos do not like Peco Streamline points, which in this range the smallest radius turnout is much larger than any Hornby or Peco Setrack turnout?
Check all your loco and rolling stock wheels B2B distance with a specialist gauge. One such is sold by The Double O Gauge Association. http://www.doubleogauge.com/shop.htm Their Intermediate Standard gauge is the one needed.

Re: oo gauge points
Not so - the small radius Streamline points are 610 mm radius, while the Hornby Express points are 851mm radius - Pecos mediums being slightly larger at 914mm radius

Re: oo gauge points
Mike, Brian said Peco smallest streamline has a larger rad than any Hornby Setrack not express.
Nurse, the screens!
Re: oo gauge points
Thanks for info, its only the CO-CO diesels that have the problem, all the rest of my rolling stock including locos are okMike Parkes wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 9:18 pmNot so - the small radius Streamline points are 610 mm radius, while the Hornby Express points are 851mm radius - Pecos mediums being slightly larger at 914mm radius
