You might be better supporting the Wago by the wires going in near to the Wago using these;

With a cable tie, just make sure the surface is sealed otherwise the adhesive pad may not stick well.

I know it says masonry but they can be used equally as well in a softwood under frame.

You can get a Wago box to house the connectors, about £1.50 each, bit expensive if you are only going to put one connector in though.

hi i am going to try wago connectors got the bus wires in situ one red and one black soldiering the droppers to the rails and wago for bus wires fingers crossed all will be ok and i will have many happy hours of running trains best regards bob

I suggest you do one loop and get that running correctly then test as you go as you add the other droppers. You will soon spot any potential mistakes and short circuits.

When using WAGO’S use the lever clamping type either the older 222 series, shown below




Or the newer 221 series



Although the push in type say they take stranded wire they are really talking about the type of stranded wire you get in the larger cable sizes typically used in house wiring (4mm2 or above). The lever type will happily grip all types.

There is less choice regards the number of ways with the lever type 2, 3 & 5 way only. The minimum number of ways you will require is 3-way, this allows bus wire in, bus wire out and a third way for a dropper. A 5-way would give you connections for 3 droppers. You can cascade them if you need to connect more droppers at one location ie. a 3-way in the bus wire and a 5-way connected to the third terminal will give you 4 droppers. In the wiring regulations for house wiring you are only allowed a single cable per terminal. You are not bound by that for layout wiring but there will come a point where the number of cables stuffed in a terminal will result in poor grip and subsequent poor connection and is not a practice I would recommend as it makes fault finding difficult without having to make a number of disconnections.
