Wykeham is one of the reasons I broke up my old layout and started again.

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the south!
Using the "Steve M" method, I have today fitted lighting into this carriage. This is just a strip of 12v LED's stuck to a strip of plasticard and placed into the roof of the carriage. The power is supplied by using a pick-up produced by DCC Concepts which is fitted to the bogie at one end of the carriage. The two wires soldered to the pick-up, run up through the bogie mounting point, and soldered to the LED strip. I have placed a fairly hefty resistor in the wiring, and all of the LED's have had a large dollop of Tamiya Yellow Lacquer placed over them. Despite this, and the level of lighting looking ok, there is still light bleed through the sides of the carriage. Any ideas?

This picture shows the DCC Concepts pick-up - a very neat and easy installation.

Not sure if I was getting the credit or the blame Barry.
How much can the coach be dismantled? Can you get access to the interior side of the coach side panels?
With buildings, the usual remedy is to paint the interior, but assuming you can get access, why not stick some tape to the inside. A strip of black insulation tape should do or perhaps a strip of aluminium tape?

Certainly not blame Steve - the lighting level looks about right. Luckily(??) all four body clips have broken off and the body sits perfectly on the chassis, so the body comes off very easily. It had already crossed my mind about painting the inside of the body - the tape or foil might be a better idea. From "foiling" the inside of the branch-line signal box, I know foil takes paint. Barry

What size (ohms) is your resistor? Whatever it is, I would consider doubling or even quadroupling it to reduce the brightness.

What ever you put inside to stop the light bleed will need to be painted the same colour as the 12 inch to the foot version.
