You got the lighting level in coaches and station buildings just right, well done. Something I sometimes struggle with.

These are the one's no longer working Brian - I have checked all wiring contacts, but may have connected up to a 12v supply when sorting some under-board wiring - I think the original power supply was a lower voltage - they are 3v LED's - I'll sort it out.

Tuesday: Station now removed from layout - all lamps un-soldered - bulbs removed from lamps - paint and solder removed from copper rods that supply the power - so far so good -

As I mentioned in the previous post the station is now off the layout, the lamps removed and the LED bulbs removed from the lamps. The first picture shows the underside of the canopy, and the second is a close-up underneath a section of the canopy. The two yellow rods are actually copper tubing which carry the power (-/+). The beam between the rods holds the lamps - this beam is a triple thickness card (Metcalfe), through which a 0.5mm hole was drilled to take the wiring from the lamp, which then goes up through the beam and then back down and soldered to the copper rods. It really is a fiddly job - it was originally done during construction. The biggest problem is that the two wires from the lamps (there are six) have to be cut to length before being carefully threaded through the beam and pulled back down to be soldered to the rods. I've known this for some time, but I really do need new glasses. I am finding it an extremely hard job to do - but it will be done.

Very clever idea for getting power to the lights Barry,I presume you have a decent pair of magnifying glasses for such a fiddly soldering task. Good luck.

I took the power supply idea from Steve M - I have used a similar set-up in the engine shed and good shed. I do need my eyes testing - have had two reminders from Boots - I'm sure with new glasses I'll be fine. I do have one of those "hands-free" things, which does have a large magnifying glass attachment - this is one of those jobs where you need two pairs of hands. Barry
