The beginnings of Peak Dale

So I'm going to stick my neck out here, have decided to rewind from my attic DCC layout with many sound fitted diesels and steam loco's to step back in time to my childhood and in particular Hornby Dublo 3 Rail.

The past few days have seen a daily delivery of parcels stacked up on the doorstep which included track mainly to assess what I may need for a 8' x 4' layout which will be located in the garage as the current layout takes up all available space in the attic.

The plan will hopefully be a double track which I now have track for, so from that a simple double track configuration, don't expect weekly updates as I need to find space in the garage, will need some trips to the recycle centre

So why Peak Dale, it's obvious as that is where I live, my main layout has not had a name for the past 20 years

I mentioned in another post recently how excited I was just piecing the track together. Tonight was a test run on the attic floor that was brilliant so hopefully I will progress from there. I know there are some Dublo members here so expect a message.
I've even purchased some of the Dublo insulating tabs just in case

We'll see how it goes but don't expect miracles

Hornby OO 3 rail is a thing of great beauty. Also, of great practicality, as the metal bodies of the rolling stock act like one giant
ground, no? I am convinced, that to a man, model railroaders are nostalgists. It will be a great pleasure to follow your progress. I will be checking back often to see how things are coming along, for as I cannot afford gorgeous old 3 rail, much less the international shipping, I can vicariously enjoy your work.

Looking forward to hearing about progress with this.
My late brother and I had a Dublo layout in our bedroom as kids.

With regard to isolating sections, although we did sometimes use the insulating tabs, I can also remember using rolls of sticking plaster to make our own!

I still run 3 rail. Just changed to new layout with 2 helix,s and as yet not added the 3 fail. In your new 3 rail, are you going to use 3 rail track, or peco flexi, with their inserts. John

My track is original Hornby Dublo 3 rail.

Some more stock has arrived, hope I can pull this one off!.

Not a problem have been running 3 rail for 50 years,on and off. Only use Dublo tin track. You réalisé I presume that your Red boxes are Not 3 rail, but 2 rail. All ori ginal Dublo 3 rail are in Blue boxes. Matters not for rolling stock, of course, but locos in Red boxes, are 2 rail .You will need to use a controller with more grunt than normal ones, as locos need more power to move. I use Hamment and Morgan Duettes, or Clippers. .Easily picked up on eBay. PM me. For any info you need.

I have plenty of H & M controllers, currently using a Clipper for the test track.

Though having the 2 rail Dublo I am aware of but it does give me more choice for rolling stock to run. As long as it's Dublo it gives me the option for a mood swing in a couple of years to 2 rail

It's all just spend, have my eyes on a 3 Rail 8F and a 2 rail Barnstaple along with some Wrenn items' of which I did have a few years back,which I should have never sold on.

Hi, i have 8f good pulling loco. Have 2 bristol castles, one with Ringfield motor, all 3 rail. Have about 15 locos, 3. Dutchesses, couple of diesels. Still trying to find a 3 rail St Paddy, at a price, 1% sensible. Trouble is the idiots, who convert to 2 rail, limit the market
