Thanks Terry. I ignore any tracking message unless it is from Amazon then track the parcel from within the Amazon web site.

If a message says about a parcel that can’t be delivered etc., I will then contact who ever the parcel I am expecting is from and tell them something is wrong with the parcel they sent. I am fairly often expecting something but I know who will be delivering it.

As I'm not expecting any parcels I have reported the matter to Royal Mail. Awaiting feedback from them, but somehow I don't think there will be any.

Just be aware and don't click on any links if you get a similar message, there are quite a few examples of scams on Royal Mail's website.

Police in London have now made arrests in relation to this scam.

Apparently these scams have been hugely profitable for the perpetrators! Lots of stories of people being scammed out of thousands of pounds.

This is one of the reasons it works so well. They start of by just asking for £2.99 or similar, then they get you to fill in your bank details on the 'payment' website. Then you get a call from 'your bank' saying there was suspicious activity on your account, you tell them about the text from Royal Mail and they tell you it is a scam and you need to transfer all your money to special safe account.
