ref your latest "that's what we have been saying"
It has taken 9 replies and 1000 views to finally get confirmation that generally Bachmann spares can only be obtained from Bachmann.
I did not know this and thought it was a point worth airing to the myriad of followers - who will be wasting time and searching for original spares on the web.
Speaks well for Bachmann reliability.

Not sure about reliability. Of all the locos I have owned from what ever company, I have never had to get a spare part apart from two loco bodies. One because I wanted a green version and one because I melted it with a soldering iron, doh! They were both Bachmann.

I emailed Bachmann last night about some spares and received an email first thing this morning asking me to phone.
I did, and an accessory pack and body screws for an eBay purchase are on the way.

General note Bachmann are not selling some items now for general split chassis types ie early 1994-2006. general parts like axles they do supply new inserts i prefer over other makes available. but things like front bogies for a lord nelson none, v1/v3 and v2 nothing ews vba bodies only no chassis, patriot scot jubliee nothing, j72 some parts but also ek exhibitions have some odds along with peter s.

I was unfortunate enough to drop my Class 66, only about 18" but enough to break one of the bogies at the mounting screw.
I contacted Bachmann to see if they were accepting locos for repair. They are open for business.
Sent it off via Hermes and received a delivery acceptance email next day with a list of service charges and payment details plus estimated return time of 3 weeks.
I am very pleased with their service as I received my loco back in less than 3 weeks, new bogie fitted, serviced, replacement of LED lights and tested, all for £42 - that's excellent service, well done Bachmann.

Bachmann have just announced a new website for their spares. Obviously still a work in progress but a very welcome development.

Hi Everyone

I need to ask for some guidance regarding spares for a Bachmann class 40 please.

Has the drive for these lovos been upgraded in the sense of instead of 2 powered axles on each bogie there's now possibly 3 powered axles, based on whenever I have looked on their website it shows the part number, descriptionof what it is and either a 2 or a 3 in brackets but nothing more than that so I'm left wondering whether I would be able to purchase them and fit them to my class 40 and give it a much needed upgrade.

I would have to have a look to see if I have the service sheet to find the product number although from what I can remember from when I purchased the loco it was in BR Blue as number 40161 I think it was and had 4 powered axles. Because I was mostly running steam locos at the time, I repainted it into green and renumbered it to 40103 but recently the loco has been sitting out of service as the bogie mouldings disintegrated and were constantly derailing the loco aswell as the loco constantly derailing on peco double slips no matter which direction it ran over them. The only mechanism parts from the loco which are ready for reuse are the motor and the drive shafts so needs a bit of work to get it running again.
