Would have done on the mark 1 with a slot cut with a file.

I was careful with the mark 2 to only remove the copper with the milling machine, probably only a couple of thou. There’s about 1.5mm of movement in the sprung pin and quite free moving - when spinning it by hand I can’t even feel it as it crosses the slot.

The pins come in packs of 100 so I have 98 spares if they ever break

Added a few extra droppers today as there was a slight dead spot at the crossing added when I put in the additional lane to the TT.
I made some more resin castings this morning to create a battered sleeper wall around the TT in a pastiche of the screened TT that used to be at Garsdale on the Settle and Carlisle.
Probably need to take a step back from the railway for a spell, partly to give some thought to what comes next but also in the hope that I can get to a few different model shops and even more hopefully, some shows where I can start collecting all the associated paraphernalia to add to the layout.

Today hasn’t just been about motorsport and photos, I had a free supply of resin arrive so I cast a couple of tunnel entrances to make into a triple bore tunnel and some retaining walls to contain the shed area.
A further cunning plan for the engine shed is developing that should allow me to build something more bespoke for the space and with a stone finish to match other buildings on the layout.

I had some molds delivered today so I thought I’d make a start on casting a few sections. It didn’t go completely to plan as the pot life of the resin is significantly shortened by the warm weather. On one pour the resin set while it was being poured from the mixing cup.

I’ve put the resin in the fridge to cool down a bit and may have another try after dark.

But the first couple of tests have turned out reasonably well, including the cast window frames - had my doubts about those for a while. The casts are a bit thick but that is down to my technique, not the quality of the moulds or resin.

More than enough wall panels cast yesterday to get a rough idea of how the shed may come together. Will have to play with track spacing a bit but that will have to wait until it gets a little cooler.
