Things have been very quiet on the layout lately, been mainly doing 'research'. However, I finally got around to building a Ratio coaling stage I have had lying around for ages. Quite pleased with how it turned out. Though this picture has resulted in 'add some detailing to the Drummond' being added to my 'to do' list.

Very nice it is too. Adds some atmosphere to the layout. :)

This bad weather we have been having lately has encouraged me to finally build the goods shed I have had lying around for ages. This is turn spurred me on to get most of the goods yard sorted out. There is still a bit of 'bedding in' and fine tuning to do and I also have a loading gauge to build, but all that will likely have to wait now that summer has arrived.

Looking good darkscot. The beauty of model railways is there is no time limit. There is no race; only one winner. Make sure it is you. :)

Thank you. Yes sometimes I will just spend 5-10 minutes tinkering with it, other times it could be hours.

Really nice. Sometimes I have to force myself to start something, but once started, my mind loses the cares of taking out the trash, running the endless errands, and I am engrossed in the process of creation. My wife once remarked, that if we are created in His image, then it follows we are mini-creators. Fooling with OO, and getting out every so often to swim around Grind Stone Lake, I count as the best spent of my time.

After a hiatus of several months, I have finally restarted on my layout. The second half of the L shape is going to be an industrial scene. I have been deliberating for several weeks on the best track plan. In the end I gave up and just went for the tried and tested inglenook layout.

For the industrial section of my layout I have decided to start in the bottom right corner and base it around an old mill. I have salvaged a card model I used on a shelf layout I built earlier in the century.

I think it is a Metcalfe kit, but I am not sure.

I have decided I to have a small section of canal beside the mill. I salvaged a chunk of foam insulation from a neighbour's skip, so cut a slice off that to make the canal wall.
