Is the NCE Powercab underpriced?

Slightly worrying that so many are available 2nd hand given the popularity of them on this forum.

I have long wondered about that as well. My theory is that a lot of people are upgrading to Digitrax. I get the feeling that it is becoming the system to have for DCC. Even the new hand held controllers from Train Control Systems (TCS) are designed to work with Digitrax. Actually more than that, you need the Digitrax LNWI unit for them to work!

I think it is also interesting that the NCE Powercab is out of stock with so many dealers. Especially considering how popular it is supposed to be. I wondered if dealers don't have them in stock because NCE have something new in the pipeline? The Powercab certainly looks suddenly dated compared with the latest offerings from Digitrax and TCS.

The problem is NCE and MRC too are having, is they do not have any new items to export. Hence there are very few left new for sale on the shelves and MRC Prodigy (Gaugemaster rebadge them) are not expecting any Prodigy items until April earliest then they would have to be exported to the UK and rebadged by GM.
Guessing Covid has halted all production?

Phew! I almost bought a really crappy looking one on eBay for £110! NEVER drink and bid! Thankfully someone else needed it more than I did and it went for £122.

Just been going through some very old emails and found the order confirmation for the Bachmann EZ command I bought off eBay. It cost £38 in March 2012, and I bought two Digitrax decoders for £17 each from a stall at York Model Railway show.

Life interrupted my plans and I didn't get around to fitting them until about two years ago!

Well I have finally taken a the plunge and ordered a 'proper' DCC control system to replace my embarrassing Bachmann EZ controller. I have just received notification that it is arriving tomorrow. This is especially good news as senior management will be out of the house tomorrow, so no awkward questions when the box arrives!

What system did you go for in the end ?,also with all the talk of the powercab I have today ordered one from rails ,they have them on offer for £159.50 .

A " 'Proper' DCC System" apparently! But what that is who knows.

New powercab arrived today ,the only difference is the metal panel is now plastic,piano black like you get in cars ,looking forward to setting it up later ,I've got a digitrax evolution advance duplex equipped which I only bought a few weeks ago ,fantastic it is but it's a bit ott for my layout so I might sell it in the near future .

A small word of warning... If you have a sound fitted locos do not use the NCE PowerCab Momentum button. It alters the setting and sounds may not play correctly! In fact its really best never used!
