I think I picked them up in the €1 section of a Spanish supermarket!

Interesting. My wife bought some wooden clothes pegs recently in Sainsbury's, the type with the metal coil spring. About 60% of them work, the rest stay open when you squeeze them. It is as if the spring is made of lead!

Re: WEST ORTON
Much of the roof is now in place after some head scratching. I had to spend some time thinning the roof castings with a sander but I have now learnt how to cast very thin sections. I couldn’t have done that with the resin I have used in the past but the stuff I bought for this project is very good for small, thin parts.

The jury is coming to a conclusion on the roof vents - they simply look too heavy. Some of that is clearly down to poor technique when I cast some of the parts. I think I will now make two long vents, one for each roof and cast some thinner sections for the roof panels on each one.
I’m just hoping that my dwindling supply of resin will stretch far enough.

Re: WEST ORTON
They are too big Steve. Just to give you an idea of the size on mine. The roof height is a scale 24feet and the vents 3ft 6in.
Nurse, the screens!
Re: WEST ORTON
I agree Brian. They look ok on the bench but definitely out of scale one on the roof. The good news is that the resin is quite easy to file o cut on the bandsaw, so I should be able to reduce the component parts to give a more correct look.
That’s for tomorrow.

Re: WEST ORTON
The roof vents have been reduced in height so they no longer resemble kennels big enough for a family of grizzly bears. But I have made a big but not insurmountable mistake - after I fixed them in place I realised that painting them will be a right P.I.T.A.
Sadly removing them isn’t an option as I have been using a pot of superglue from Screwfix - it turns out to be industrial strength! Perfect for this structure’s integrity.
Also added the moulded buttresses to the walls which add an architectural feature and cover the panel joints.
But I have thrown on the primer coat and the base coat for the stonework. Also made the facia boards and gutters and painted them - unfortunately the paint has ‘bloomed’ due to the high humidity today so they will have to be repainted under better conditions.

My version of ‘dazzle’ camouflage applied and picked out a few blocks and the window surrounds in different shades.
This can dry for a few hours and then I will start the dirty wash.
