Z scale electrical points adding a switch wiring

#1

Post by Garyreg »

Good afternoon
I have tested the electrical points and they all work and i now want to work out how to run one of the points with a momentary switch. I have just been down to my local train shop and he only had the momentary switch pictured and said it should work but I have looked at wiring diagrams on the internet and tried different ways of wiring but still no movement can anyone tell me how to wire this up? Thanks again for your help

Connect one wire from the controller to the centre tag on one side of the switch. Connect the two blue wires from the points to the other 2 tags on the switch. Connect the other wire that comes from the controller to the yellow (common) wire of the points.

Edited for correct wire colours.

Hi
Can I ask and ensure that the controller shown has a totally separate output that is being used for the point motor i.e. either an Uncontrolled 12volt DC or 16V AC (Z gauge may be less??) ... NOT THE TRACK OUTPUT?

Apparently it does have an accessories output.

I have never heard of Rokuhan before, but I have just looked them up. Their Z scale train sets seem amazing value, in Japan! They are distributed in the UK by Gaugemaster and their prices are about three times the Japanese list price. You can get a starter set in Japan for about £140. I doubt it is the same quality as Marklin, but it is a cheap and cheerful intro to Z scale.
