Another one for the collection. My first Hornby Dublo loco since the 1950's.

That looks very good. How does it compare with the ‘normal’ versions?

That’s a very fine loco Barry. Is it a centenary model.

It's one of the limited edition (500) Hornby Dublo loco's that Hornby have produced over the last year or so. It has a metal(?) body - so it's certainly much heavier than the norm.

I mentioned a couple of posts back, that I needed some customers for the snack bar. I know some of you have used Hardys Hobbies for people, but for those who have not I can highly recommend them. The picture shows how the Platform Station pack as it comes in unpainted condition - they will paint figures for you at extra cost. Before painting it is best to give the figures a very light misting of matt primer - I use Halfords White. The figures are connected to the base plate by a number of very thin sprues, which are easily snipped off, and a very light file or fine sandpaper removes any bumps. It is helpful to leave perhaps one connection attached to the figure so that it can be held with tweezers when painting. Another supplier of 3D'd people is Modelu - I have also used these and they are also very good. Not cheap, but the detail is very good. The pack of people (8) shown in the picture was £21.00. They have a vast selection. The loco crew were my first attempt at painting.

They certainly are good from Hardy’s.
Rather than leaving a bit of sprue to hold them (I find it easily snaps off), I hot glue the feet to the end of a bamboo skewer to use as a handle. They will pull away from the glue once painted, if they are all bit stubborn, a drop of IPA on the feet will release the glue. Then paint the shoes as the final step.
That’s a useful tip for any time you use hot glue and need to release it - a drop of IPA on the glue will release it from whatever it sticks to. It will also work if you get hot glue on your clothes.

I reckon he puts another work mat on top of it.
