Double Slip wiring and switches

I have an analogue end to end layout incorporating Peco code 100 track.
The layout is operated by a single Gaugemaster controller and has eight separate sections accessed through H & M SL4 switches.
The layout incorporates two insulfrog double slips (SL90).
I have experienced at times a short circuit and I assume this is because I did not fit insulated rail joiners on the double slips.
I am now fitting insulated joiners and treating the double slips as separate sections.
When wiring up the double slips with feed and return to the outer rails, can the wiring still be fitted to H & M SL4 switches or do I have to use a different spec. of switch? The Peco instructions advise DPDT switch and I think the H & M SL4 are DPST

The Insulated frog Peco SL-90 DS when used with one controller doesn't need any alterations. It uses 8 metal rail joiners (Fishplates). No Nylon IRJs or switches are needed.

The only time IRJs and any switch(es) would be needed is if one of more of the tracks leading from the DS needs to be isolated, as the SL-90 does not provide direction set isolation like a standard point does.

This is clearly stated on the Peco SL-90 leaflet "Wiring for SL-90 Insulated Double Slip (Analogue control) One Controller" See extract of Peco leaflet attached below.


If you're experiencing short circuits on the one DC controller and when no train is travelling over the DS, then I suspect one or more rail feeds are the wrong way around on the rails abutting the DS. Suggest a careful check of all wiring to the rails is undertaken.
