Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street.
Great stories, love the rugged terrain the plot is enfolded within.
Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street.
Glad you like the scene, Chops.
Generally when I run steam engine I have 'Ada' the coal barge in Clarence Dock; typical of the time.
When running Medway Queen wagons or diesel locomotives 'Kingfisher is in place.
In real life the real Clarence Dock was a coal and textiles loading/unloading dock. When the dock fell out of use its name was eventually changed to Leeds Dock and is now an up and coming area.

Love the black and white pictures. They seem to give loads more atmosphere than colour.

Thank you for your comments, Journeyman. I like to have stories around things. I think it gives a reason for why things are where they are. Bringing a model railway 'to life' so to speak.Journeyman wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 5:57 pm Great stories, love the rugged terrain the plot is enfolded within.
Funny how times change, BM. When we only had black and white, "How wonderful a picture would be if it were in colour." Now it is the other way.Bandit Mick wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 9:19 am Love the black and white pictures. They seem to give loads more atmosphere than colour.

True that, and the miracle of digital photography is that we can shoot unlimited shots and discard the rejects instantaneously. That is something I never dreamed of back when I was parsing out B&W 35 mm shots, agonizing over the cost of wasted film and paper.
Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street.
At Clarence Dock I put old railway sleepers forming the dock wall, so that if the grandchildren broke them the sleepers could be easily replaced. After three years (or thereabouts) it has been found that I am the only one breaking them.
New dock wall has been built at Clarence Dock.

We have our five year old granddaughter staying the weekend. She was playing with the lighting.
"you have to use your imagination," she said.

More fabulous scenes. Same setting, but every time something new is apparent. Your granddaughter is astonishing.
Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street.
Thank you (again), Chops. I add little bits here and there and remove others.
As for the lighting I put up some multi-coloured ones up for Christmas. At Sovereign Street my granddaughter wanted the pink one on. Then she wanted the room lights off leaving just the Christmas ones on.
"It's nighttime," she said. Simple really.

Your granddaughter obviously knows what she is doing and uses her imagination
