They only sold one that’s why the price increased. :)

I'm pleased you got a good one Steve - if you look at RMweb there are a large number turning up broken - appears to be a packaging defect.

No issues with bits not where they should be although some parts of the chassis look a bit rough round the edges. Maybe because much of the underneath is mounded in grey plastic - not what we're used to seeing.
Only had it running on the rolling road but it appears to be very smooth indeed.
I will be fitting the crew once painted (only arrived from Hardy's Hobbies late this afternoon and then running it in properly on the layout.
I'm hoping Hornby will announce a TTS decoder for 2022. I did look at one from YouChoos which is based on a modified A4 sound file but it's a bit pricey for my taste. The W1 needs a 4 cylinder with a chime whistle but maybe I could get away with a big two cylinder as the chuff rate never matches anyway. A 9F may do the job in the short term.
Either way I'll have a closer look over the next few days.

W1 was a 4-cylinder Compound loco so would sound like a two cylinder loco.
Compounds normally have a softer exhaust than conventional locos but as W1 was a high pressure loco with a smaller than usual expansion ratio maybe the exhaust was more like a normal 2-cylinder loco.
Hope this helps, Colin.

Thanks Colin, that's the way my thoughts were going.
I need to trawl through the available decoders - my 'go to' generic two cylinder is the J36 but in this case I suspect something a little 'heavier' may be more convincing.
