Welcome aboard Mick - you have come to the right place for good honest advice.

Enjoy you new hobby, but beware it can become addictive ( and expensive).

cheers Richard

You can get twice as much track using N scale and today's rolling stock is pretty reliable with good detail. My layout is the size of a double bed, has two loops and runs rakes that are nearly a metre long which means one diesel and five carriages or my class 43 which is four carriages and two locos.

Just sayin' ;)

I'd agree with another poster though that you try something smaller at first just to be sure the hobby is for you. It can be frustrating at times and you don't want to half fill a room only to decide to throw it away. My next layout will go round the sides of my room but I'm still going to build it a module at a time.
