Fitted a new lighting setup on the painting bench yesterday - you can never have too much lighting. A twin 2ft LED batten light on sliding runners plus two LED adjustable side lights - essential for detail work in my opinion.
Tested it by painting some of the details on the Class 52.

Nearing the point where I can start reassembling the model. The buffer beams are separate modules to be fitted last of all. Transfers applied and drying and masking in place on the front screens ready for some light weathering.
I think the next job will be a coat of satin varnish to hold everything in place prior to assembly.

Some light weathering below the waistline today. My next job is to add some smoke/soot to the exhaust area - black on black anyone?

Steve have you noticed the panel on the side is hanging down at one end. On both sides going by the previous picture.

Does it come with the brake rodding (I think that’s what it is) on the sides of the bogies. Always thought they are one of the things that stand out on the CL52. I know the Hornby version didn’t have them so I made my own.

The body isn’t fully clipped in place as it needs to be removed again to refit the interior once the painting is finished and fully dry. Less chance of scratching it .......I hope. :D

Yes they do supply brake rodding, and I did fit it, but the side cowling at the front prevents any movement of the bogies so it had to go. It was a bu&&er to fit as well. I may look at fitting a dummy rod alongside the wheels but leaving the brake shoes off and cutting the rod short of the cowling to allow movement.

I only added rods at the side, it makes a huge difference to the appearance of the loco.

I mentioned the side panels as these things always appear when you look at a photo.
