If you use an electronic track cleaner certainly swop the decoder for the blanking plug otherwise the decoder will have no value beyond a recycling bin.

I would suggest throwing the electronic track cleaner into the bin. They can cause more harm than good and if you want clean track then wipe it clean.

Well Santa was very good to me, I must have been a good boy during the year (or nobody told on me!)

I got 6 0-4-0 locos - rather than fill the forum with 6 photos I've just posted the one.

I intend to convert them to DCC - either by finding a small enough chip or by linking to a wagon/coach and inserting it in there if no room. My idea, is to use pickups on the wagon or coach and feed to power to the motor via a fixed cable link from the DDC socket/chip.

I want to fit pick ups to wagons but don’t know how to. A detailed description would be much appreciated if you are successful.

Another product you might want to consider are those that look like a coiled spring that the axle slides into. You have to use wheelsets with one "live" wheel and one insulated, and of course remove one wheel to fit the spring then reset the back to back distance. Not used them myself but some folk like them.

Hi all. Happy new Year.
Some recent arrivals, first two within the last few days.



Union Pacific locos in H0 scale from Broadway Limited.
Rear is early Challenger 4-6-6-4 in Brass Hybrid construction with DCC and sound.
Front is FEF 4-8-4 in "Excursion" configuration as it is at present. Also with DCC ans sound.
Both have synchronised puffing smoke and whistle steam !




Pennsylvania Railroad K4 4-6-2 also from Broadway Limited.
DCC and sound.
