Bachmann Wickham Trolley

Post by 2027Joe »

Hi All

I was thinking of obtaining one of the above.

However, my loco's are DCC, so I was wondering if anyone has successfully fitted a small decoder to one of these, and what the level of difficulty is.

I am aware that there are few retailers who will fit these, for a price obviously, but am wondering if this is something that could be done by an amatuer like me :)

That was a long time ago Brian.

In a nutshell you need to find the smallest decoder possible and hardwire it between the pickups and the motor. I can’t remember which one I used although I believe Barry (Bulleid Boy) may know of a very small one from TCS (?) that will do.
You will have to dismantle the trailing truck and cut a hole in the load to make space. I made a new tarpaulin cover from painted tissue paper to hide it.
Also if you want to fit figures either use some in HO scale from Preiser or I think ModelU sell a bespoke 3D printed crew specifically for the Wickham.

HI All

Thank you for the replies to my query.

I searched through the internet and found a couple of sites where people had completed this project.

However, I think that this is well above my skills level !

So I will say thank you all again, and wonder no more about this little trolley.

Cheers Guys
