Re: Portencross
Hi Folks,
I can now finally claim to have completed the major build of my layout around the full 360 degrees.......for sure lots of small aspects to finish and improve, and plenty of detail still to be added, including signals and lights etc, but the major construction which was started with the first wooden frame in July 2017 is most definitely over !
To celebrate I have packed my Blue BR diesels and my Montrgreenan theme layout away for a few months, and turned the clock back to enjoy Portencross in the early 60's and the introduction of Diesel traction, and Diesel Hydraulics in particular........however as confessed on the recent Zoom call, the occasional Steam loco will now also make an appearance.
To best show the completed layout, I have produced two videos.........one with sound and plenty of Diesel thrash, and the other showing the silent grace of Steam.
In the first video the environment is overtaken by the sound of the two Napier engines in Deltic 9020 "Nimbus" as it hauls a holiday special, whilst Western Diesel Hydraulic D1000 "Western Enterprise" heads an express service, although is almost completely overwhelmed by the more powerful (and infinitely more noisy) Deltic.

The second video shows Princess Coronation Class 8P (4-6-2) No : 46243 "City of Lancaster" in charge of a regional service, and despite being surrounded by various classes of Diesel power, continues to show classical lines and fine performance..........I haven't quite got the knack of driving steam locos yet so apologises for the above normal acceleration - LOL

Hope you enjoy the videos and as always any comments and feedback welcomed........ Best wishes to you and yours for a safe and happy New Year.
Cheer Richard.

Two first class videos Richard - nice to see some steam on your layout. The scenery is very good indeed.

Exquisitely done Richard. So glad you have finally seen sense and put the ‘kettle’ on.
