Live steam section

not sure where the best place to post this so will put here,

would it be possible to have a Live steam area, but not just for locomotives, i know we have a larger scale area which would also extend to live steam stock, but a thread popped up on another forum regarding Mamod live steam, and i am seriously thinking in some future purchases, and as such thought it might be an idea to have a section on the forum that would cater for all types of live steam models, from basic static models to ride ons etc, only an idea for FB and other admin to mull over, maybe have a poll and get a general census from current forum members, cheers,

It's a great idea. Maybe one day I'll buy a MSS side tank steam loco. Right now it's just a dream...

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm unlikely myself to move into live steam but I do enjoy reading posts from people who have.

That's unfair, Montfort, Brian (FB), will acknowledge a yay or nay, when he has weighed up the pro's and con's to see if it would be in the forums interest for such a topic, as what i suggested covers a whole plethora of steam vehicles and situations, FB will let us know once he has had time to think about it, cheers,

I f you want peoples thoughts on the idea. I for one think it is a very good idea to have a live steam section including including live steam railway models and live steam models such as stationary engines ect: I have noted a few people showing interest in live steam on the old forum before.

I haven't ignored the requests, I'm just considering options and I'm not sure this forum is the right place for such a general heading??

The forum is for model railway and real railway discussion plus related topics like tools etc. The only exception is The Mess Room where non railway topics can be discussed within the general rules.
The problem I'm having to decide upon is that 'Live Steam' is not just railway related, there are many other products covered by the title! I'm happy to have a dedicated Live Stream railway only section, but not for every other piece of steam powered equipment. If it was opened to this, then possibly we would have aircraft and boating followers wanting a section too. No that's not going to happen, before anyone has any ideas.

I think I will open a Live Steam forum and see what happens with posts, but if it drifts off railways then it will need to be closed down.
