I have two 3D printed kits on their way which are designed to convert Hornby 0-4-0's into little 7mm narrow gauge diesels.

Ammended. They have arrived and are interesting. I am planning on doing some slight modifications to the design, but it does look very good. It is more like a plastic kit of parts then casted resin parts that I am more used to as this is my first 3D kit, but I will say that as a kit of parts ready to assemble and glue it does look promising. More on this as I start to build them. They do have printing lines which will need a little sanding along with small bits of excess and one little place on one part which was not quite printed which looks like where if one had a resin part and a slight bit of resin liquid did not quite fill the mould which is relitively simple to correct, but overall I am impressed and they are reasonably priced too! So all in all they look impressive. (I bought two).
They are made by "Budget Model Railways" and I bought their 7mm narrow gauge diesel shunter kit. I have yet to assemble them so watch this space... (Or rather the space on my usual thread).

Although obviously not native to the Northwest of England, I did photograph this actual loco in 1980 when she was stabled at Northwich for a few days prior to the Rocket 150 celebrations at Rainhill.

When I tried to run her, Clan Line would only move very slowly.
I recently managed to get her serviced by someone who does work for a local model shop and now she runs well.
This gave me an excuse to buy a green MK1 Brake / 2nd coach to run as a support coach with her.

I bought this as "pre-owned" from Hattons.

Nice pictures - great loco. Once you have got one Merchant Navy Class loco there is no turning back.

You are correct. As my layout has 2nd rad curves the wagons get buffer lock when being pushed so I have fitted larger heads at one end of each wagon, problem solved. Not noticeable on the layout, just on the pictures.
