Just as an aside, you do know you can negotiate your excess, Rog. Ever since my Bank days, have always done this. Have very low excess on house, 600 euros on my car, and 200 on Heathers. Happy to pay slightly more each month, and know my house claims will be paid in full, with only small excess. Huge hailstones destroyed plastic house gutters, and insurance replaced with metal ones. Cost to me 100 euros.

I have no issues with where this thread goes, but when I find life gives me lemons, conversations like this, however diverse, helps keep me sane. Or at least whatever passes for sane these days.

After all, a problem shared becomes somebody else’s problem. I’m generous like that.

Another ooops moment (but not for me).

While I as off work, some of our local shoplifters were emboldened by my absence. When I went back last week, I spotted a ‘regular’ dropping off some swag into the back of a car.
I made a note of the registration and posted the details on our local ShopSafe website. My local PCSO monitors that website and added the registration to ANPR.
Got a call from him this morning to say they stopped the car yesterday - seized for no insurance and the driver arrested for PWITS.

Spoilt his day that did.

Good spot, shows your senses are up to full strength. I have just had a Cataract removed. Result is 20:20 vision in that eye and its sooooo bright I have to wear sunglasses. Result is that I am now able to do fiddle layout work, that I needed magnifier for before. Well happy.

A small update on the Covid situation.
I thought my hay fever was particularly bad this year but it now transpires that the NHS has identified a trend with recent Covid cases that about for weeks after a patient finally tests negative, they develop flu symptoms again. They are still testing negative but it now officially recognised as part of long Covid.
It’s so predictable that the health services can forecast the onset almost to the day.
It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
