Painting and Weathering Service
Re: Painting and Weathering Service
Not going to able to do with out you Steve. Could not do the quality you turn out. Think my air brush will be used for more simple things.

That is the start of the journey to the dark side.
And it’s addictive.

It’s been a bit quiet this week while I waited for alternative transfers for the splashers. I wasn’t happy with the ones supplied by Fox transfers , but these, from the HMRS seem to be a much better fit.

We are getting closer. The running plate and cab front have been lined today. Their sealing coat of varnish is now happily drying in a nice warm shed.

Very nice. Is it a trick of the light, the green looks quite dark.
How did you do the lining on the running boards?
Looking at my photos my 2 GWR locos were a bit darker than the WR versions.

Trick of the light plus gloss varnish.Walkingthedog wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 4:24 pm Very nice. Is it a trick of the light, the green looks quite dark.

The running board lining is a mix of HMRS transfers for the twiddly bits at each end, and Fox waterslide transfers for the long straight bits.

Thought it might be the gloss. Lining looks the part. Going to look great with name and number plates.

Patience Sandy.
I’ve got some touching in to do, plus painting the reversing linkage to fit behind the name plate. Then there’s the satin varnish, and the glazing, handrails, steam pipes, whistles.........etc.
And I’ve still got to refit the bathroom sink.

I think you better get on with the sink or your good lady may not be too happy..
