The Peco turntable is certainly worth considering, but my carpentry skills just aren't up to snuff. It will be the Hornby turntable, for better or worse, once I've constructed a small extension section for my baseboard to accommodate it.
One question please. I'm having a mental block. I'll be using a 12v DC feed to operate the motor, rather than the convoluted Hornby wiring. No issue there, but the turnable will only turn in one direction. What sort of switch would I need to allow me to operate the unit in either direction please? I just can't visualise it. The joys of advancing decrepitude, no doubt! Something that will swap the 12V connections is the answer, but as for the switch?
Cheers, Clem

You need a double pole double throw switch. See https://www.eleinmec.com/article.asp?12 for wiring details.

Re: OO gauge turntables
Thanks for the replies. I did suspect a DPDT switch, but just couldn't quite visualise the wiring. Where's the best place to buy a DPDT switch with centre off please?
The other thing that I was wondering was whether I could construct something using Peco PL* switches. I ask, as I've used these to control my points and isolating track sections, and have a couple of free slots available in one of the switch carriers. Could I put something together using a couple of PL-26 switches, or am I just making life too complicated for myself?
Cheers, Clem

Hi
Bitsbox sell DPDT C/O toggle switches for £1.58 plus P & P https://www.bitsbox.co.uk/index.php?mai ... cts_id=879
Brimal are £1.67 plus P & P https://www.bclstore.co.uk/product-page ... -on-off-on
Gaugemaster for a whopping £5.25 plus P & P https://www.gaugemasterretail.com/magen ... ttts2.html
The Peco PL-26 in not suitable, as its a passing contact lever usually used for Solenoid point motors and is SPDT but momentary, so its (On)-Off-(On) where the bracketed (On) is just a momentary closed contact.
