I threaded single strand copper wire through the fence posts over the weekend - they may get a wash of paint to tone them down when I next have the paints out. Also fitted a manual gate across the lane to the headshunt - no plans to motorise this one!

I also had the Sharge cleaner dragging round the mainlines yesterday but I was plagued by the occasional derailment. I’ve tracked the cause down to a couple of cross board joints which I suspect have settled over time as the timber has dried out. One was just one track on the lift up section which I resoldered and adjusted.
A couple of joints either side of the river bridge are marginal so I’ve decided to relay the track across the bridge but without the joints.
I’m unlikely to ever move the boards at this end of the layout, so the joints are no longer essential. Must admit they were a godsend while I was at the track laying and wiring stage. It was always the plan to replace any problematic crossings, I’m just doing it earlier than planned.
In other news my two closest model shops have either closed or are in the process of shutting down. The next nearest can’t get an account with Peco, so no track available from them. Not been there for a while, so I will use this as an excuse to pop down to the shop in Faversham tomorrow.
