Re: tenders
Could you please let us know what period you are modelling. Tenders lasted a long time and would have been used over many years. Now their liveries may have changed a few times. .....................John

1940's gwr south wales eastern valley and marches line, strict lms rules - no locomotives south of abergavenny, ( though many photographs show this to be false.)

I am not sure where exactly you mean buy Eastern Valley, South Wales. If this is the boarders Line you would have seen both GWR and the LMS running side by side.

Re: tenders
I thought your question was about GWR early tenders.

boarders line that is the marches line - hence no lms locomotives south of abeergavenny.
the vale of neath line (pontypool to the vale of neath), lms line though no lms locomotives see above rule.
lnwr line (Brynmawr to newport, gwr from newpot to blaenavon then it gets lms ish))
newport to Blaenavon low level- all gwr same line as above until branches fork.
Admiralty yard - lner, coal to fleet in scotland.
ministry of defence yard - pow
all within the space of 1 mile
all rod 30xx, 28xx, granges and halls all have 4000g tenders in photographs, not sure what the gwr 8f tenders are but probaly lms tenders, the 2301 is a collet 3000g as are the moguls' the bulldogs and aberdares are either 3000 or 3500 collett tenders photographs not so clear.

Re: tenders
Hello,,,,,,,,,,, Now I am not an expert on this But I do know that the LMS and GWR trains ran along side each other from Bath and along the Welsh Border. I don't have a reference book to check the details here. I think that LMS locos did end up sometimes in the Neath Port Talbert area. I was told that by one of our Chior Members who in fact worked for the GWR from leaving school in the early 1940s Yes he was well into his eighties when I knew him in about 2005. I may add even though he was getting on he was a very good Chorister indeed. He still had his old GWR cap badge which he gave me and I still have it.
What doe that have to do with Tenders. Far as I know tenders did get swapped around so it would not have been unusual to see different locos coupled to other types of Tenders.
I am sure that somebody with greater knowledge than I who can give more accurate information will come along later ............John
