Thanks Sandy - I am pleased with the outcome. I would have liked the wall a fraction higher. It may be when I put the strip of wood along the back, I can place an "L" shaped length along the bottom - this will raise the wall a couple of millimetres. B&Q sell strip wood in various shapes, and once painted you will not notice. Barry

A bit of a novelty, but the coaches arrived today to sit behind the Bachmann Class E4 in LBSC livery. The lights are a little bright, so the yellow lacquer may need to be used. The coaches were courtesy of The Model Centres "Black Friday" sale - four coaches for the price of two. As you are probably aware, the lights are operated by waving a magnet above the coach.

The coaches in operation - towards the end there are a couple of jerky movements - either a rail on the points is dirty or the loco needs fitting with a "stay alive" capacitor.

Barry you may have solved the worlds energy problem, just wave a magnet over something and the lights come on.

They are nice little coaches, good to get a bargain.

If only it was that simple Brian. It's interesting with these coaches that the lighting in the first class carriage appears to give a brighter light due to seating upholstery being blue.

Yes I noticed that. The blue really stands out you can hardly see the seats in the other coaches.

What make are the coaches BB. I have just bought a rake of 4, 6 wheeler s from Hormby but the lights are much dimmer and not so bright. When I opened the first box up I thought what is the magnet for, It turned the lights on and off passing it over the roofs. I expected it to run from the track power. The battery is a much better idea. no drag from wheel pick ups.

Preferably rechargable batteries, though ordinary button cells are actually reasonable value these days. I must say the internal lighting looks good!
