DCC CONTROLERS

#1

Post by BRIAN BYRNE »

I am considering to upgrade my Hornby Select DCC controller. My layout is 40ftx12ft, DCC with 2.5 cable bus bar and droppers. There are 160points, all manual and the signals are static Dapol gantry. I have 30 locos, consisting of Hornby and Bachmann DCC steam and diesel, three being sound fitted. I am quite happy to run up and down the layout checking track and manually operating the points. To this end I would like to upgrade my controller, I have considered the Elite, however a remote hand held unit would be an option. As I will not be automating the points nor the signals, I will not require any ancillary functions, so the running of more than one loco, double heading and sound functions possibly coupled with a roving controller are my requirements. I would appreciate any advice.

Hi
IMO two to consider ... 1_ NCE Power Pro or 2 ,,, Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance 2. Both are Hand held controllers.

If you want desk style controllers then the Hornby Elite or something from Digitrax may be an option?

Hi Brian, I've got an NCE power cab which I got for the exact same reasons you've listed. Had it about 7 years with no problems. I find it easy to use and does have the option of operating points etc should you change your mind and go down that route.

Hi
Yes I too have a PowerCab. This can be upgrade power wise with the addition of a Booster. The NCE Power Pro is their 5Amp version of the PowerCab.
