New Motors

Post by Chiltern 100 »

I have two of the old Lima GWR railcars that I bought many years ago. They have been in a dispay cabinet for a long time. I would like to run them on my layout but I think they might need re-engined. Is it possible to do this and where would I go to get it done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Old Lima motors can be re magnetised and specialist companies are around to undertake this work. This is one....http://www.scalespeed.co.uk/ Its not cheap so seriously consider if its worth having done?

If the models are cherished then consider having the motor upgraded to a CD motor See..https://www.strathpefferjunction.com/pr ... otor-kits/

I have 2 Lima rail cars which have never been run and are as new in box. I have had them since the mid 90s and they have been on display. I gave them a service few weeks ago the motors needed a drop of oil and cleaned the wheels with IPA (which looked new anyway) then they ran like new. So give them a service and a test before you do anything else.
